A landlord in South China's Guangdong Province has recently attracted a lot of attention from netizens as he has exempted four-year rent for one of his tenants as a congratulation for the tenant's child for getting a high score in gaokao.

In a video posted by the Star Video on China's social platform Sina Weibo on Sunday, the landlord from Zhongshan city, decided to exempt four-year rent for the couple, who has lived there for 10 years, because their child achieved a score of 608 in gaokao.

The rent will be exempted from July, and will last until the child graduate from college, four years later.

The move has won a lot praise from netizens, who named the landlord as "Good landlord in China." But some have question whether the landlord did this for fame.

The landlord later responded to netizens, "The rent for each month is only 220 yuan ($34). It is not a lot of money as four-year rent is just about 10,000yuan ($1547). I just want to encourage the child and send congratulations."

Netizens expressed their support for the landlord's move. "We cannot deny the love given by others even when the amount of money is not large," said one Weibo user.

"Ten years without increasing rent has been admirable, not to mention the exemption of it for four years. This is so positive and encouraging," said another user.
