Anti-pandemic drama ‘Chinese Doctors’ tops mainland box office

Domestic anti-pandemic movie Chinese Doctors continued to lead the Chinese mainland box-office chart on Saturday, China Movie Data Information Network reported Sunday. 

Chinese Doctors ended its second day of screening with daily earnings of about 119.08 million yuan ($18.39 million), accounting for around 67 percent of the day's total.

Based on real events of medical workers, the movie provides a panoramic view of the arduous fight against the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan in early 2020.

Another domestic drama 1921 garnered 14.18 million yuan, ranking second on the daily chart. The movie tells stories about the founding of the Communist Party of China in the year 1921.

Coming in third was Chinese animation New Happy Dad and Son 4: Perfect Dad, which earned about 12.17 million yuan on Saturday, the second day of its release.
