A forest zoo in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu Province, has vowed to turn itself into a real life 'Zootopia' with the help of 160 experts and students from 22 countries. It will be a place where animals will find themselves in a cozier and more suitable environment to live in.

The Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo, together with two renowned universities in the area, held the opening ceremony for the "Zootopia" plan on Monday.

Li Xiangning, chief designer for the program, explained to Pear Video that his idea is to "make the animals feel more like they are home."

"The ideal environment for them to live in is in the wild, and we are discussing whether and how we should upgrade our animal parks with experts from Western countries," Li said.

Shen Zhijun, the zoo director, said that the new version will not only take into consideration the welfare of animals, but also the experience of tourists.

"This is starting to look like a nice zoo combined with a safari," wrote a netizen commenting on the design. "I am very looking forward to it."
