From face masks to vaccines, Chinese medical suppliers have been delivering products to facilitate the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which is scheduled to open on Friday despite challenges posed by the COVID-19.

A face mask maker in China said that it had received urgent orders from Japan in the past month and workers are churning out the masks in full swing to make sure that the orders can be delivered on time.

Based in Yiwu, East China's Zhejiang Province, the company told the Global Times on Tuesday that it had received orders for more than 100,000 masks this month through a foreign trade company, exclusively for Japan.

The manager of the factory surnamed Gao said that the orders were very urgent, since the customer asked for delivery of the masks within a week after having placed the orders.

The company produces face masks in artificial fiber that can be used repeatedly, and the product has gained popularity because of its novel style and ability to be recycled.

Other Chinese companies have also been doing their part in helping supply key medical supplies for the Olympics games in Tokyo.

In May, Guangdong Lecomm Medical Technology Co and Guangzhou Senma Shoes Co jointly donated 1 million disposable medical masks and other anti-epidemic supplies to the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee.

In March, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach announced that China would provide additional vaccines to participants of this year's Tokyo Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

"We are grateful for the offer, which is in the true Olympic spirit of solidarity," the IOC president said at the virtual IOC 137th session in Lausanne, Switzerland.
