A man from East China's Jiangsu Province paid 1,000 yuan ($154) for the 500 yuan products he purchased at a store of the Chinese sportswear brand Erke and took to his heels before the salesperson realized his overpayment.

A video clip circulating widely on the internet shows a man from Nanjing purchased products worth 500 yuan at a local store of Erke on Friday but he paid 1,000 yuan via QR code and ran away before the salesperson realized his overpayment.

Many netizens were amused by the action of the man. One netizen on Sina Weibo joked that it is a new style of "dine and dash." Another commented that "even robbers don't run as fast as him."

The domestic sportswear company won the hearts of Chinese consumers after it announced on July 21 a 50 million yuan donation for Central China's Henan Province, which suffered from flooding after heavy rainfall, although the low-profile small company's business isn't prosperous. Many internet users advocated the public to buy more of the company's products. As a result, sales of the company increased 52 times on a single day on Friday.
