Testing for Universal Beijing Resort is moving full-speed for its grand opening, Song Yu chairman of Beijing Tourism Group, which jointly developed the theme park, told the media.

Song said in an interview with Beijing Business Today that stress tests for the resort are in final stages.

"If the stress test and trial operating are going on well, the long-waited opening time will be on time table," Song said,

The tests not only include ensuring safe operation of rides and attractions, but also the park's capacity in the face of large crowds, or encountering extreme weather, he said.

When opened, Universal Studios Beijing will be the fifth universal studios in the world and the third in Asia, featuring 14 super large attractions, two of which are world firsts.

"The complexity of the equipment use is greater than that of other universal theme parks. At the same time, meeting high testing standards in China has also lengthened the overall testing period," Song explained.

Song said that after the opening of the park, Universal Studios Beijing  is expected to receive 10-12 million number of visits every year.

According to an in-depth research report on theme parks released by China Securities the annual turnover of Universal Studios Beijing is forecast to be in the order of 25 billion yuan ($3.86 billion) to 30 billion yuan, once the park reaches mature operations. .
