As the world sets its eyes on Tokyo for the Olympics, netizens wondered if Chinese taikonauts are following the competition from space. The Shenzhou-12 crew went to space on June 17 and is now half way through their three-month mission.

"Yes, they can," Xiaoxiang Morning Post learned from China Manned Space Agency on Tuesday.

"They can watch live broadcasts on our space station," said China aerospace's official social media account. The space crew is able to cheer for team China from space.

In addition to watching telly, crew members need to conduct a regular health assessment on their own by helping each other run through a string of tests including blood sampling, laboratory tests, ultrasound, and so on.

"After living more than a month, the three have become half doctors themselves," Xu Chong, doctor at China Astronaut Research and Training Center, said in the interview with the Post.

"[The routine tests] for them are a piece of cake," added Xu.
