North China's Tianjin Municipality, a city near Beijing, has carried out nucleic acid testing for employees and surrounding residents of the city's two railway stations, Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin West Railway Station, starting from Wednesday.

Tianjin's Hedong district, where Tianjin Railway Station is located, and Hongqiao district, where Tianjin West Railway Station is located, released notices for targeted residents on Wednesday and Tuesday.

The screening was planned to be finished within two days.

"The situation of the epidemic prevention and control is getting severe as imported cases in many places in China have caused local clusters," read the notices.

The move aims to screen people with high possibility of getting infected so as to find the possible infection and protect the health of public.

A close contact of a confirmed case reported in Beijing has been to two railway stations in Tianjin on July 27, which brought some risk for the city's epidemic prevention and control work.
