China's Ministry of Commerce on Thursday urged the Lithuanian government to immediately correct its wrong decision and take actions to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, in response to a media inquiry whether China's national railway operator has suspended China-EU rail freight link to Lithuania.

Earlier, some media reported that China Railway Group will suspend freight train service to Lithuania amid rocky China-Lithuania relations due to Lithuania's provocation of China on the Taiwan question. China State Railway Group Co (China Railway) on Wednesday denied the report saying services were unaffected.

Gao Feng, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said at a press briefing on Thursday that it is the Lithuanian government that has been putting up obstacles and stand in the way of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and interfering with the normal business activities of Chinese enterprises in Lithuania.

Lithuania's recent action blatantly violates the spirit of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, and seriously undermines China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and affected the business confidence of the two countries, Gao added.

"We urge the Lithuanian government to immediately correct the wrong decision, take concrete measures, take action to improve the well-being of the two peoples, and create favorable conditions for the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries," Gao said.
