An aquarium diver in Lanzhou, Northwest China's Gansu Province, has learned to perform underwater the face-changing art from Chinese opera by himself, which fascinates visitors of the city's aquarium.

Yan Qingping, a diver working for the Lanzhou Ocean Park, spent three months to learn how to do the face-changing art by himself online after seeing other divers perform it underwater.

"It was not easy at the beginning when the aquarium was just opened in June 2020," Yan said. "As the first batch of divers in the aquarium, we learned to dive while doing normal work."

"Later in March this year, I tried to learn the face-changing art and practiced it underwater," Yan told the Pear Video.

The biggest problem with performing face-changing art underwater is the buoyancy, he said. To have better performance effect, the facial makeups and clothes were redesigned to adapt to the underwater environment.
