An 11-year-old boy has recently successfully conquered the 6,178-meter-tall Kunlun Mountains' Yuzhu Peak in 4 hours and 58 minutes, setting a record for the fastest climbing by a school-age child.

The boy Jiang Bingxun, from Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province, accompanied by his father and professional guides, launched an expedition to reach Yuzhu Peak on August 15, the highest peak in the eastern section of the Kunlun Mountains, located in Golmud, Northwest China's Qinghai Province.

Jiang arrived in Hoh Xil on August 11 to start adaptive training in advance. Before climbing, he had such severe high-altitude sickness that he could only rely on liquid food to maintain his strength. On the way to the summit, they also encountered hail, fierce wind and snowfall, but Jiang didn't give up and finally made it to the top.

Jiang Zhuo, Bingxun's father, told local media that their plan for this summer vacation's climb had been well prepared, with a long period of physical training through running and skipping.

Jiang Bingxun has now returned to his school in Qingdao for a new term. His father also noted that only with the assistance of professional outdoor team could they reach the target height safely. He reminded people that mountaineering is a risky sport and should not be attempted blindly.
