An amateur swimmer was fined 200 yuan ($31) for jumping into the river from a ten-meter high railway bridge to practice diving on Wednesday in Suqian, East China's Jiangsu Province.

A video clip circulating on the internet shows a man in dark swimming trunks on a railway bridge diving into the river with a loud splash. The bridge at around ten meters high is in close distance above the river surface.

The police later found the diver surnamed Li. According to Li, he "just wanted to practice diving while swimming." After the diving practice, he climbed onto the railway bridge through the platform attached to the piers.

The police fined him 200 yuan for the dangerous act after educating and criticizing him. Li admitted his mistakes and suggested netizens not to copy his behavior.
