A wild adult giant panda came out of the mountains and went to a farmer's corn field in a village in Leshan, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Saturday morning, attracting many local villagers. The giant panda was later sent to a rescue center after being examined by panda experts.

The panda interacted with the villagers, posing in various positions to attract people to take pictures.

"A few children from the village who were playing outside saw a giant panda in a family's bush. They went home and told the adults, who then informed the officials," the village Party secretary said.

Early Sunday morning, experts from the provincial capital Chengdu checked the panda's condition and found that it was a senior giant panda. "This panda has severely worn down teeth, blindness in its left eye and severely limited vision in its right eye. It is roughly estimated to be at least 18 years old, which is considered an advanced age in wild animals. Its geriatric conditions are also normal," one expert said.

The experts gave the panda a physical examination and on-site first aid. Due to the limited examination and availability of treatment on site, the panda was sent to a professional rescue center for further checkup and monitoring.
