Several policemen in Binzhou, East China's Shandong Province have been punished for failing to implement regulations around drunk driving, Binzhou traffic police announced on Thursday.

On Monday, one branch of Binzhou traffic policemen was live broadcasting the site of drunk driving enforcement. At 10:56 pm, one vehicle was found stopped unusually. The driver surnamed Lin told the policemen on site that she works at the city public security bureau and her husband, who was driving, drank alcohol at noon. In order to ensure their safety, she changed to be the driver. The police on the site didn't test whether either of them had drunk alcohol and let them go.

After investigation, Lin was found to be a second-class senior police officer from the city public security bureau, whose husband indeed drank at noon. When arriving at the checking point, they were afraid of being tested and exceeding the alcoholic limit, Lin then changed to be the driver.

The policeman surnamed Cheng on the site violated the regulations by not collecting the proof timely and comprehensively, leading to loopholes and misconduct.

Cheng was given warnings, administrative dismissal, downgraded from a four-level police chief to two-level. Lin was also given warnings. The other related policemen all were punished for failing to perform their duties.
