Five CPC members earn praise for great contributions to cultural relic protection

The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Friday held a press conference to praise five CPC members who have made great contributions to cultural relic protection.

The five excellent CPC elites are from difference occupations. One of them was described as a "guardian" of relic protection who has investigated and handled more than 510 cases of administrative violations in cultural relic work during his more than 40-year career. The other is an active practitioner in the protection of cultural relics aided by international cooperation and promotion exchanges and mutual learning with other countries. 

According to reports, there are currently 767,000 immovable cultural relics of various types registered in China, 108 million pieces or sets of state-owned movable cultural relics, a total of 5,058 national key cultural relics protection units, 5,788 registered museums, and more than 1,600 revolutionary museum memorials
