Perhaps the greatest change the world has seen in modern times has been the rise of the Internet. As the most abundant information resources in the world, the Internet enables us to obtain timely and useful information for our English study, which is unparalleled by the previous means of learning. How should we use the network resources to achieve amazing results? As a high school student, I'd like to share some of my own learning strategies from the following perspectives.
As the very basis, listening requires deliberate and persistent training. Word-by-word dictation is a method worth trying. I recommend listening for a few times, writing down as much information as possible, comparing the answers, and lastly analyzing the reasons for errors. This is a gradual process which involves infinite patience. In addition, training through cell phone APP and watching English movies on the Internet are also effective ways to practice listening.
For spoken English, fluency is more important than standard pronunciation and the absence of grammatical errors. It is generally acknowledged that the most critical function of English is to communicate. You can begin with talking about certain topics with your study partners on a regular basis and cheer each other up. When I'm stressed out in school, I always make it a relaxation therapy to read after or imitate standard pronunciation from English movies, original recordings, etc.
When it comes to reading, I personally prefer intensive reading. Think about how to make full use of time in class and obtain feasible reading methods from teachers. Besides, experimenting with reading original English novels in spare time is also a good way. Imagine you've got a well-written book, you can focus on studying the words and collocations of each sentence, analyzing the relationship between paragraphs, understanding logic and conception, and finally taking valuable notes.
A good writing is the one that expresses ideas clearly. Everyone can benefit a lot from keeping an English diary each day. Just write down a few sentences such as your personal experiences, emotions or even quotations. Sometimes I choose to post the article I wrote on the Internet and turn to the Correcting Network for corrections and improvement. We should never ignore the fact that fluent expression of ideas is fundamental, which is more important than changes in vocabulary and sentence patterns.
Perseverance is the key to learning English and you will surely begin to reap the benefits. If you want to learn English better, the best time to start is now. So, set a goal and work for it here and now.
