Chinese internet service conglomerate Tencent said it has handed over an employee who was a producer working on the company's video and TV project to judicial authorities after discovering suspected breaking of the law, the company told the Global Times on Tuesday.

This decision came after a recent anti-fraud investigation by Tencent, a move that indicates rising efforts by the company to crack down on illegal activities.

While the exact cause of the violation has not been given, domestic news portal Yicai reported on Tuesday, citing a Tencent employee, that the company has strict requirements on acceptance of bribes or kickbacks, or behavior that conflicts with the interests of the company.

In the third quarter of this year, a total of 59 people were investigated in Tencent’s anti-fraud probe, according to Yicai.

Among them, 13 have been dismissed from the company or blacklisted, and three have been transferred to public security organs for further investigation.

Tencent pledged to further strengthen its internal audit and internal control work as well as tightening the requirements for managers in the company, media reports said.
