Shanghai Disney Resort issued a notice on Sunday, stating that it has temporarily suspended entry into Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown, and some attractions inside the park will also temporarily stop operating, in cooperation with epidemic investigation in other provinces and cities. Both Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, with a reopening time yet to be determined.

Visitors who have purchased tickets for the day but have not entered the park can change their admission date or refund the ticket according to the ticket purchase channel, said the notice released by Shanghai Disney Resort on Sunday afternoon.

While many rides and attractions were then closed, outdoor performances continued until the end of the operation on Sunday. Meanwhile, visitors must strictly follow epidemic preventive and control measures such as wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, according to Shanghai Disney Resort.

For all the visitors who are already in the park, they need to undergo nucleic acid testing at the exit when they leave the park on Sunday, according to the notice. After taking the first test, they need to wait for 24 hours before taking the second test, and after the two nucleic acid tests are negative, there is a follow-up 12-day independent health monitoring as it is requested by the center for disease control and prevention.

All the tourists in the park have left after completing the nucleic acid tests as of press time on Sunday, according to media reports.

In the notice on Sunday, Disney apologized for the inconvenience caused.

Shanghai epidemic prevention and control authorities issued an emergency notice on Sunday, requesting all personnel entering Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown on Saturday and Sunday to undergo nucleic acid testing immediately.

Shanghai's Metro operator also temporarily suspended the operation service of the Disney Resort station on Line 11. People are not allowed to enter or exit the station, and passengers on the train are not allowed to get off.

Media reports showed that due to the epidemic, Shanghai Disney Resort was closed for a short period of time in 2020. Since its reopening in May 2020, it has received more than 17 million tourists and earned more than 10 billion yuan in revenue, media reports.

Earlier, the Universal Beijing Resort faced a similar challenge after receiving notification from the disease control department that on October 24, a close contact of a COVID-19 patient visited the park.

Currently, individuals  involved are under close monitoring and isolation arranged by corresponding government departments and the latest nucleic acid test result all coming back negative, Universal Beijing Resort said on Saturday.
