China Grain Reserves Group buys 8.4 million tons of soybeans from South American countries

China Grain Reserves Group (Sinograin) has signed soybean import contracts with multiple companies at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE). It will import 8.4 million tons of soybeans from Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, further diversying the country’s soybean import sources.
 
Contracts were made with international grain providers including Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM), Bunge Limited and Cargill Inc, according to a statement on Sinograin’s website.
 
China is enlarging its soybean import sources to maintain the country’s grain security. According to data revealed by the General Administration of Customs on Sunday, China imported 79.083 million tons of soybeans from January to October 2021, a year-on-year decline of five percent.
