The virtual summit meeting between President Xi Jinping and the US President Joe Biden has set the tone for China-US bilateral economic and trade communications, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Thursday.

"President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden successfully held a virtual meeting this week, which has laid out the direction for the development of bilateral relations, and set the tone for China-US communications in the economic and trade area," Shu Jueting, a MOFCOM spokesperson told a regular press conference on Thursday in Beijing.

In response to a press question about the latest update regarding bilateral economic and trade following the top leaders' meeting, Shu said that the Chinese team will earnestly implement the results that were agreed at the summit meeting.
