China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has vowed to enhance the country's intellectual property protection. CNIPA said at a press conference on Wednesday that authorities will ensure special supervision of intellectual property protection during the coming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

CNIPA announced to monitor usage of symbols, designs and trade marks for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games according to Chinese laws. The administration has planned to crack down on illegal merchants and e-commerce platforms for production and transaction of intellectual property related items.

China is also becoming a major intellectual property exporter. According to data from CNIPA, China's export and import value for intellectual property usage in the first three quarters of 2021 reached almost 280 billion yuan ($44.08 billion), with the country's export value witnessing a year-on-year increase of 27 percent.

In the 2021 Global Innovation Index, China's ranking jumped to 12th place, reaching a historic high and leading among middle-income economies.
