Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Monday that as the world's biggest developing country, China will prioritize the stable development of its economy in 2022, under the guidance set during the Central Economic Work Conference, while continuously deepening cooperation with the World Bank.
Li made the remarks during a virtual meeting with World Bank President David Malpass. The meeting followed a recent dialogue between Li and heads of six international financial and trade bodies.
Dialogue during the sixth "1+6" Round Table Dialogue was frank and effective, stressing that China will prioritize stable economic growth, while tackling difficulties with effective measures, Li said.
The Chinese premier also emphasized the importance of implementing an effective, proactive and sustainable fiscal policy and maintaining the country's liquidity within a reasonable range with a flexible monetary policy.
Moreover, it is also important to enhance financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises and individuals by strengthening the policies and further stimulate market vitality and development by implementing market-oriented policies, Li said, noting that China has the power to achieve main targets for the year with strengthened resilience and confidence on its economy.
Li also pointed out that the World Bank is a significant multilateral institution in promoting global development and China will continue to maintain a healthy relationship with the bank, while enhancing cooperation in multiple aspects to support global development.
Malpass said that China's economy has been maintaining a steady development and the World Bank has a long history of good cooperation with China. The World Bank is looking forward to continue sustainable cooperation and strengthen its partnership with China in many areas, including financing, poverty reduction and climate change, Malpass said, according to a Chinese statement.
