A public art exhibition kicked off at Minhou county in East China's Fujian Province on Friday. This is the first time that the county has hosted such a large public exhibition, which features about 20 artists such as Chen Gang, Dong Shubing and Gao Xiaowu.

According to Liu Yihua, the exhibition's curator, public art is of great significance to the development of a city.

"Art can retain the beauty of nature and landscapes, and promote the development of the cultural and tourism industry in the region. Art is also a link for communication. We hope to promote exchanges between Minhou and artists from all over the world through the exhibition, and promote the prosperity of Minhou's cultural tourism industry," he said.

Additionally, a round table talk and seminar was also hosted about the function and development of public art.

The exhibition is set to run until February 17, 2022.
