A series of English books describing the humanistic personality and aesthetics of life in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, was launched on Wednesday, aiming to promote the region's poetry and tea culture to foreign countries.

The Book, Symphony of Poetry and Tea: Tianfu Culture in Four Seasons, was released at the Winshare Books exhibition which was held by Chengdu city government and and the research institute of Tianfu culture, as Chengdu is nicknamed Tianfu Zhidu (Land of abundance).

This collection selects the most representative elements of "poetry" and "tea" in Tianfu culture to convey the leisure and elegance of poem recital, tea tasting and listening to stories.

The series used the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter to symbolize the rich and colorful spiritual essence of Tianfu culture. "Spring" symbolizes the beginning of a year, the eternal vitality of all things, and the spirit of reform and innovation of the people of Chengdu. "Summer" symbolizes the luxuriant beauty of all things and colorful midsummer scenes, suggesting the life aesthetics of Tianfu culture.

"Autumn" symbolizes harvest. The people of Tianfu are happy because they are full and rich, and the land of Tianfu is tolerant and inclusive because everything is successful. "Winter" symbolizes the fact that despite the relatively cold weather, Chengdu not only has flowers and green grass, but also that people's care for each other and charity always make this city peaceful and warm.

The series will be promoted in English-speaking countries, such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the Commonwealth of Nations.

The books use medium and micro vision to describe the humanistic personality and aesthetics of life - Tianfu culture in Chengdu and Sichuan.

The collection aims to achieve a perfect combination of systematic research on Tianfu culture and effective international communication, and to promote a diversified and three-dimensional image of Chengdu.

The series of books also serves the cultural exchange needs of the 31st Chengdu 2021 FISU WUG and aims to tell the story of Chengdu well and expand Chengdu's "circle of friends" overseas. It is a new cultural creation to promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between China and foreign countries.
