Drama inspired by Beijing food street heads to capital

Gui Street, a performance inspired by the same-named street in Beijing known for its various restaurants, is set to be staged at the National Performing Center for Local Dramas on January 15 and 16. 

Based on the script by writer Wang Zhili, the drama produced by the Beijing Performance & Arts Group follows the rapid development of Gui Street and the families that live their over three decades. 

According to Dong Ning, the vice general manager of the Beijing Performance & Arts Group, the work is full of Beijing's characteristics and includes various stage performance styles. 

Ren Dongsheng, the show's stage designer, said that Beijing elements and symbols from different time periods are depicted on stage alongside creative designs that help present the emotional changes of the times.
