With 24 days to the opening of the Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Beijing police released the managing guideline for small-size aircraft in China's capital during the games, prohibiting all individuals and organizations from using drones for sports, entertainment or advertising activities.

The regulation will be formally enacted from January 28 to March 13, with the purpose of maintaining air safety and preventing illegal flight activities in China's capital during the Winter Games. The 2022 Beijing Winter Games is scheduled to start on February 4 and conclude on March 13, 2022.

The aircraft prohibited are those with a low flying altitude, slow speed and small radar reflection area, mainly including 12 categories, such as light and ultra-light aircraft, gliders, delta wing, manned balloons and drones.

Beijing police said that citizens and organizations should cooperate with related authorities in aircraft registration, and should strictly abide by the regulations.

The police said those who violate the General Aviation Flight Control Regulation shall be punished in accordance with the law. And those who violate the provisions on public security regulations shall be punished by the public security organs in accordance with China's Law of the Penalties for Public Security Administration. And if the case constitutes a crime, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to the law.
