The story of an asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 reported in Beijing on Wednesday deeply touched Chinese netizens for his arduous life transporting decoration and construction materials, to as many as 31 sites across the capital since January 1, to make a living.

The epidemiological survey of the asymptomatic carrier released at a press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday showed that the asymptomatic patient often worked till midnight.

The asymptomatic patient lives in Beijing's Chaoyang district and works day and night at different construction sites in multiple districts across the city.

The epidemiological survey of the patient soon went viral on the internet on Wednesday with many netizens commenting that it was the saddest epidemiological survey that has ever been released.

Many netizens were touched by the patient's painstaking life and commented that he was finally obliged to take a rest for the COVID-19 treatment, although he cannot make money during that time.

Some netizens speculated that the reason for the asymptomatic patient to do part-time jobs at different sites was to look for his abducted son. This has not been confirmed by the authorities.

The infected person was identified as an asymptomatic carrier after he took a nucleic acid test on Monday, the day before his train to Weihai, in East China's Shandong Province. The patient was transferred on Tuesday to a designated hospital for treatment.
