Having ordinary people take center stage to present their happiness through various performances will be keystone of the upcoming Spring Festival Gala from Shanghai-based Dragon TV, according to its director Wang Hong.

A tradition for people as they celebrate the Spring Festival, these galas will be held not only by China's state TV station China Central TV, but also other TV stations with regional specialties and characteristics like Dragon TV.

"We pay attention to ordinary people and every ordinary person with a dream. With this in mind, we have designed rich content," said Wang.

The gala will include songs and dances, sketches, cross talk and talk shows. Hot events taking place in China such as the upcoming Winter Games, China's great achievements in aerospace, paying tribute to China's national heroes and cultural heritage will promote Chinese stories and the charm of Shanghai, one of China's largest cities full of vigor.

Besides, delivering positive energy and showing respect for dreams, large-scale installations and AR technology will be used to present the dreams of aerospace enthusiasts, whose romantic wishes include playing basketball in outer space.

"Although it is just two ordinary people's imagination of outer space, behind it, in fact, is the development of our country's aerospace industry. For an ordinary person, it is inspiring that they would dare to have such a dream. Especially at the end, we wondered if we could link the blessings sent by the space heroes who spent the New Year in outer space this year together," he said.

According to the other director Zhang Han, stories of several weddings of couples from different walks of life will be highlighted at the gala. One wedding is that of professors Liu Xila and Chen Chen, who both numbered among the People's Republic of China's first batch of government-sponsored students to study abroad.

After they completed their studies in the US, they returned to China and taught at Shanghai Jiaotong University.
