A new exhibition focusing on the development of video art in East Asia kicked off at the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum on Saturday.

Refocusing on The Medium: The Rise of East Asia Video Art exhibition features 31 works of art from 17 heavyweights from China, South Korea and Japan.

According to curator Kim Machan, it was a big challenge for her and her entire team to organize such an exhibition though online means due to the still-ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But through passion and professionalism they finally made it a reality. She said she hopes that mutual trust and cooperation between countries will bring about more high quality exhibitions.

Participating artists include Katsuhiro Yamaguchi, Nam June Paik, Kim Kulim and Zhang Peili. Zhang said that the exhibition is set to travel to other cities in Asian countries like South Korea and Japan.

The exhibition is free of charge and is scheduled to end on May 8.
