No country within the Group of 20 has the right to oust another member, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at press conference on Wednesday, commenting on attempts by US and its allies to expel Russia from the world's major intergovernmental forum.

When asked whether China believes Russia should retain as a member country of the G20, Wang said that Russia is an important member of the forum and no country has the right to expel another member from G20.

G20 is an important forum for international economic cooperation and includes the world's major economies, Wang said.

As the global fight against the COVID-19 virus is at a critical stage and the global economy faces the slowdown pressure, and other rising uncertainty and destabilizing factors, the forum shoulders significant responsibility in leading global anti-pandemic coordination, improving global economic governance and assisting the world's economic recovery, Wang said.

Wang urged the G20 to uphold true multilateralism, foster cooperation and deliver joint efforts in fighting economic, financial challenges and promoting sustainable development.
