China's State Post Bureau and China Post called for strengthening of disinfection and anti-epidemic measures at parcel processing centers and parcel transit sites, while enhancing supervision of international mail in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus, CCTV reported on Tuesday.

For instance, China Post required all the processing centers disinfect international mail upon arrival at inbound ports and retain the video clips of the disinfection process for 30 days.

Ma Gang, an employee of China Post based in Shiyan, Central China's Hubei Province, said that all international mail arriving in the province was tagged with all related information including arrival data, vehicle number, and tracking number with the records of employees handling mail to ensure that the mail can be traced.

Meanwhile, the volume of inbound mail bounced back in April compared with March, following the recovery of the domestic logistics.

According to data from the State Post Bureau, a total of 280 million mail deliveries were received on April 24, a month-on-month increase of 10.2 percent, and up 15.7 percent compared with April 10.

Official data showed that the average number of mail deliveries handled at the beginning of March was 336 million items, but the average daily volume had declined after the middle of March.

Multiple foreign express giants including FedEx, DHL Express, and UPS earlier told the Global Times that their operations are running normally.
