A sculpture of a giant person walking stands still at the entrance of the Super Sample exhibition in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province. One of the largest artworks produced in China in recent years, Walking Person by renowned artist Su Xinping depicts a person taking big steps forward, raising a series of questions for viewers to think about: Where does he come from? Where is he going? Why is he in such a hurry?

Curated by Sun Dongdong, the Super Sample exhibition in Shenzhen also features works from Anish Kapoor, Daniel Buren and other renowned international artists. With "super" and "sample" as two key words, Sun aims to turn the limited space into an artistic practice and dialogue in the hope of exploring the new futuristic cultural environment in Shenzhen.

The sculpture represents the workers behind China's fast development who strive and work hard for a better life.

"I am getting a handle on the relationships between people, and between people and society. The relationship between people and the universe will not change, but the world is changing, and facing this changing world will produce different psychological reactions. I hope to capture this kind of psychology and the idea of change. Of course, the fundamental things remain the same," said the artist, who is also the vice president of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts.
