Lululemon fined over $12,000 by Beijing market regulator for selling defective products

Canadian athletic apparel retailer Lululemon on Thursday apologized for selling down feather vest that didnt meet the national standard via its official social media account, after the company was fined by the Beijing market regulator for selling defective products.

Lululemon stated that it immediately cooperated in relevant investigation and removed the defective products. The company also noted that it had initiated an internal review to address the issue.

The penalty was issued by the regulator on March 18. The regulator detailed that nine Lululemon stores in Beijing had sold 59 defective products priced at 1,380 yuan each from October 1, 2021. As of November 3, 51 of the products had been sold and could not be recovered.

The regulator ordered Lululemon to rectify their illegal acts and in addition to the fine, 23,431.05 yuan worth of illegal income and other illegal merchandise was confiscated.
