German carmaker Mercedes-Benz is recalling 2,367 locally made and imported cars in China on fears of flawed components and assembly issues that pose safety hazards, China's market regulator said on Saturday.

The large consignment to be recalled, which is slated to begin on May 31, is comprised of 2,365 C-class, E-class, and EQC and GLC SUV vehicles manufactured between June and July 2021, according to a statement from the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).

A plastic part on the front seat of these recalled cars was manufactured using the improper material, which may cause damage to this part and pose a safety hazard, the statement said.

The company will also recall an imported E-class car made in March 2021 and an imported E-class car made in September 2020 over assembly problems in a seat and a sensor that may pose security risks, the announcement said.

German carmaker BMW is also recalling 194 imported BMW IX cars made between August 2021 and February 2022 due to a software problem, according to another statement from the SAMR on Saturday.

Italian carmaker Maserati is recalling five imported MC20 cars made between December 2021 and January 2022 due to a problem with indicators in the taillights, a statement on Saturday showed.
