A guidebook for ideological-political courses of majors in engineering in universities was published recently. The aim of the book is to provide guidance on feasible teaching methods in ideological and political education in view of the deficiencies in current such courses in engineering schools.

The guidebook was published by the Huazhong University of Science and Technology publishing house on Thursday. The book is based on teaching reforms for engineering majors at the university and summarizes the achievements in the practice as a reference for other Chinese universities.

When editing the book, the publishing house summarized teachers' experiences in teaching ideological and political courses, including them in the guidebook with the help of professional course textbook writers to fully reflect the new ideological and political content of the course. The publishing house also worked with teachers to explore how to best arrange  ideological and political elements in textbooks.

The book then received government approval. You Zheng, president of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said that the guidebook can help improve courses to benefit students and assist them in having the correct views toward the world and the right values, while also putting their patriotic enthusiasm into engineering study and practice.

Hu Minqiang, official of the Minister of Education of China, also congratulated the school on the publication of the guidebook.
