A China-aided nephrology treatment hospital in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka held its first anniversary ceremony on Saturday, since the hospital's inauguration on June 11, 2021.

In the past year after the hospital was built, more than 18,000 of patients had been accepted, over 3,000 were hospitalized and 20,000 hemodialysis sessions were done for local patients.

China' ambassador to Sri Lanka, Qi Zhenhong said at the anniversary ceremony that the hospital was a gift to the Sri Lankan people from China, and China will continue to support the country as formal bilateral diplomatic relationship was set up 65 years ago.

Sri Lanka's former president Maithripala Sirisena also attended the ceremony.
