North West China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is taking measures to secure capacity for a wave of tourists during the summer travel peak, boosting the local tourism industry while not compromising public health and safety, Xinhua News Agency reported on Saturday.

Administrators of Xinjiang's highway, railway and airline systems have opened up new special sightseeing routes for tourists. The Urumqi Railway Bureau on June 28 and 29 launched two round trip trains in northern and southern part of Xinjiang. Two more New Orient Express trains, a deluxe hotel-like long trip train, will begin operations in July. In 2022, Xinjiang's railway system will run a total of 102 special trains for tourists. 

Xinjiang's civil aviation sector has added nine charter flight routes since the beginning of July. China South Airline increases the flight frequency connecting Urumqi and Guangzhou in South China's Guangdong Province, Xi'an in North China's Shaanxi Province and Chengdu in Southwest China's Sichuan Province. 

Xinjiang's third highway through the Taklimakan Desert has opened to commercial traffic, providing another option for self-driving tourists. 

Xinjiang tourism authorities have also built a booking platform using WeChat Mini Program covering ticket purchase, accommodation and tour guides.
