The opening performance of the Pingtan International Performing Arts Center in East China's Fujian Province was held on Friday. The performance saw the China National Opera House join hands with the Fuzhou Straits Symphony Orchestra to present a symphony concert focusing on the cross-Straits.

Pingtan in Fujian Province is the closest place on the Chinese mainland to the island of Taiwan and a pilot zone designated to facilitate cross-Straits integration.

The Pingtan International Performing Arts Center, a new cultural landmark in Pingtan covering more than 30,000 square meters, is in partnership with CPAA Theatres affiliated to the China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. It possesses diverse facilities such as a grand theater, a function hall and a public cultural center.

The opening performance expressed the sincere love and feelings of people in the mainland for the residents of Taiwan and touched a lot of members of the audiences, who applauded the show.

The performing arts center will play a role in promoting the development of local tourism and cultural exchanges between the Chinese mainland and the island of Taiwan in the future.
