Three Chinese designed and built LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) storage tanks in Yancheng, East China's Jiangsu Province, with world's largest volume of 270,000 cubic meters each, finished the construction of each roof on Wednesday, demonstrating the completion of outer structures of the storage tanks, CCTV reported on Wednesday.

The raising of the roof is the most difficult phase during the construction process. The 1,200-ton-part of the roof structure needs to be lifted up using air pressure devices to a height of 60 meters, requiring about 500,000 cubic meters of air.

The three storage tanks were involved in a green energy base project hosted by China National Offshore Oil Corporation, which plans to build six 270,000-cubic-meter tanks and four 220,000-cubic-meter tanks and related infrastructure.

The green energy base has an annual LNG processing capacity of 6 million tons, equal to 8.5 billion cubic meters of gaseous natural gas, which can meet the natural gas demand of over 85 million residents in Jiangsu Province within 28 months.
