Yangge (traditional Chinese folk dance) / 秧歌 / (yānɡɡē) 

A: As a dancer, can you tell me about your recent choreographed dances?

作为一名舞蹈家,能给我讲讲最近你的编舞创作吗？

B: My newest work is inspired by China's traditional folk dance Yangge.  

我的新作品是从中国传统民间舞蹈秧歌之中汲取灵感的。

(wǒde xīn zuòpǐn shì cónɡ zhōnɡɡuó chuántǒnɡ mínjiān wǔdǎo yānɡɡē zhīzhōnɡ jíqǔ línɡɡǎn de.)

A: I know that this is a dance with special folk characteristics. Can you introduce Yangge in detail? 

我知道这是一种非常有民俗特色的舞蹈。你能详细介绍一下秧歌吗？

(wǒ zhīdào zhèshì yīzhǒnɡ fēichánɡ yǒu mínsú tèsè de wǔdǎo.nǐnénɡ xiánɡxì jièshào yīxià yānɡɡē ma?)

B: Yangge was originally the songs people sang while transplanting rice seedlings and farming. Later, it gradually developed into a common folk dance among the Han ethnic group. 

秧歌最初是人们插秧、耕作时唱的歌。后来,它逐渐发展成了汉族最普遍的民间舞蹈形式。

(yānɡɡē zuìchū shì rénmén chāyānɡ,ɡēnɡzuò shí chànɡde ɡē.hòulái, tā zhújiàn fāzhǎn chénɡ le hànzú zuì pǔbiàn de mínjiān wǔdǎo xínɡshì.)

A: So what is Yangge's dance choreographing like?

秧歌在舞蹈编排上是什么样的呢？

(yānɡɡē zài wǔdǎo biānpái shànɡ shì shenmeyànɡ de ne?) 

B: Yangge is usually performed by a Yangge team. The performers hold items and dance to the rhythm of percussion and wind instruments such as the drum and suona.  

秧歌一般以秧歌舞队的形式进行表演。表演者手持道具,在锣鼓、唢呐等吹打乐器的伴奏下尽情舞蹈。

(yānɡɡē yībān yǐ yānɡɡē wǔduì de xínɡshì jìnxínɡ biǎoyǎn.biǎoyǎnzhě shǒuchí dàojù, zài luóɡǔ,suǒnà děnɡ chuīdǎ yuèqìde bànzòu xià jìnqínɡ wǔdǎo.)
