Seminar in Beijing tackles how Chinese game and e-sports enterprises go global

By going abroad, Chinese games and e-sports can spread Chinese concepts and worldviews to the rest of the world and showcase the charm of Chinese culture with a more confident attitude, said experts and participants when attending a seminar on games and e-sports.

Hosted by the News and Communication Committee of the China Public Relations Association and Beijing 99 Interactive Entertainment Digital Culture Communication Co., Ltd, the Chinese Game and E-sports - Overseas Leading Enterprise Seminar was held in Beijing on Friday.

Discussing how to tell Chinese stories well and convey Chinese values, the seminar invited experts and scholars, heads of e-sports at leading Chinese game companies, and media representatives to share their experience and opinions. Topics included links the between Chinese culture and other cultures in games and, from an academic point of view, what kind of help is needed to make Chinese games successful overseas. They gathered together for the new development trend that is China's e-sports game industry and a new future for industrial development.

Chinese games and e-sports are sailing overseas, which offers new opportunities to represent a reliable, admirable and respectable image of China, said Wang Xiaohui, executive director of the China Public Relations Association and professor at the School of Journalism and Communication of Nankai University, and Xu Tao, executive director of the News and Communication Committee of the China Public Relations Association, in their respective speeches.  

Sun Jiashan, an associate researcher at the Chinese National Academy of Arts, shared cases and introduced "the correct posture for Chinese culture going global" to guests.

Representatives from Beijing 99 Interactive Entertainment, Tencent Games, Netease Games, Perfect World, miHoYo, Moonton Games, Electronic Soul and many other leading companies participated in relevant discussions concerning key areas for China's e-sports industry such as North America, Japan, South Korea, Europe and Southeast Asia. 

Media representatives made suggestions from the perspective of their industry in a global context. They also discussed how Chinese games and e-sports can spread Chinese concepts and worldviews to the world with a more confident attitude, and showcase the charm of Chinese culture.

Participants agreed that by taking root in China's excellent traditional culture, the Chinese game and e-sports industry will uphold the mission of promoting Chinese culture and help the world better understand the country.
