The Embassy of India held an exhibition to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti at Beijing's Jintai Art Museum on October 2.

The event commenced with the garlanding of the bust of Gandhi by Ambassador Pradeep Rawat and his wife Shruti Rawat. Yuan Xikun, director of the Beijing Jintai Art Museum also paid floral tributes to Gandhi.

This was followed by recitations of Gandhi's quotes by children from the Fangcaodi school.

The event also saw the inauguration of the exhibition on Gandhi's life titled "My Life is My Message." Originally curated by Gandhi Smriti, and the exhibition concluded on October 9.

Addressing the gathering, Rawat spoke about how Gandhi foresaw solutions to problems ahead of his time and Yuan spoke about the museum's continuing association with Gandhi Jayanti celebrations in recent years.

On the occasion of Gandhi's birth, the Indian Embassy in Beijing, the expatriate community, and young people from India and China are welcome to the Jintai Art Museum to pay tribute to the influential figure by laying flowers and reciting Gandhi's classic poems. The sculpture has also become a symbol of friendship between the people of India and China.
