The Tarim Oilfield, under the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China's top oil and gas producer, has seen its annual oil and gas production reach 30 million tons so far this year, six days earlier reaching the same benchmark than last year, the company announced on Thursday.

The oilfield reported annual energy production of more than 30 million during the past consecutive four years, it said.

Located in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Tarim Oilfield is a major oil and gas field in China, and a significant source of natural gas, linked by the country's West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipeline project.

This year, a total of 131 new oil wells entered operation there, with daily output of oil and gas reaching 110,000 tons. The oilfield's oil and gas reserve has maintained high-speed growth, the company said.

Since winter, the oilfield has ramped up efforts to ensure energy supply, with 609 gas wells producing 96.42 million cubic meters of gas every day. Currently, the oilfield has supplied over 26.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to West-to-East Gas Transmission Pipeline networks and southern Xinjiang this year, contributing to local economic and social development as well as China's energy security, the company said.

Recently, a major gas and oil processing station located in the Fuman oilfield - one of the 32 oil and gas fields operated by Tarim Oilfield - was put into operation, the company said.

As China's largest ultra-deep oilfield, the Fuman oilfield boasts more than one billion tons of oil and gas reserves, which are mainly located underground at 7,500 to 10,000 meters deep, it said. According to the company, the Fuman oilfield is expected to produce 5 million tons of oil and gas annually in 2025.
