The Chilean Embassy held the opening event for an exhibition to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Chilean Painter José Venturelli in Beijing.

The exhibition aims to commemorate the life and work of this Chilean painter, sculptor, illustrator, and muralist who dedicated his life to the connection between China, Latin America, and Chile.

The life and works of the painter Venturelli are closely linked to China. He arrived in China in the early 1950s and established deep friendships with Chinese cultural circles. He was of extraordinary importance in China's relations with Latin America, especially Chile. He was appointed as the Ambassador for Peace for countries in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific.

Venturelli's valuable efforts made Chile the first South American country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. He passed away in Beijing in 1988.

The event brought together professionals from the field of art and culture as well as important diplomatic representatives. They witnessed photographs and original paintings by the artist held by the Venturelli Foundation and the Chilean Embassy.

The event reviewed the opening ceremony of the exhibition of Chilean Painter Jose Venturelli that Chilean President Gabriel Boric attended in October 2023. This event serves as an example of the friendship that has united Chile and China for more than 70 years.

The exhibition will be free and open to the public until May 13.
