Recently, Henan Province experienced a severe cold wave, with local temperatures dropping by over 15 degrees Celsius. In response, the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company initiated the "Yu-Bing" action. The company's control center sent teams to renewable energy stations, including the Ji Guan Wind Farm in Sanmenxia City, to guide the pilot application of new de-icing technologies, including internal heating and air-blowing for wind turbines. These efforts aim to ensure the safe and reliable operation of wind turbines, thereby enhancing the stability of the renewable energy power supply.

Extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, and ice can easily lead to wind power and photovoltaic systems becoming covered with ice and snow, impacting power generation at renewable energy stations.

The State Grid Henan Electric Power Company closely monitored weather changes and established a renewable energy supervision and prediction mechanism for extreme weather, featuring a "data-driven, monitoring-linked, closed-loop forecasting" approach. In coordination with the province's renewable energy stations, the company launched the "Yu-Bing" action.

From the grid side, digital technologies are fully utilized to improve the ability to predict and detect renewable energy outages caused by icing. On the station side, the adoption of new anti-icing technologies for renewable energy units has been promoted, and special inspections, self-checking, and equipment maintenance at renewable energy stations have been organized to address winter peak demands. These measures ensure the safe and reliable operation of wind turbines, photovoltaic units, power transmission and transformation equipment, and other grid-related primary and secondary systems during the winter period.

Anyang has the largest renewable energy installed capacity in the province, accounting for over 65 percent of its total installed capacity. The State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company organized technical exchange and sharing sessions on typical de-icing and anti-icing technologies for the managers of the city's 52 renewable energy stations. It also enhanced winter supply supervision, carried out on-site research and technical guidance as part of the "Yu-Bing" action, to enhance the safety awareness of renewable energy stations and improve their ability to maintain energy supply during extreme weather conditions.

At present, the State Grid Henan Electric Power Company is closely monitoring weather changes, utilizing the "Henan Power Grid Meteorological Map" system and other digital platforms for effective ice cover monitoring and forecasting at renewable energy stations. In the event of extreme weather conditions such as rain, snow, or freezing, the company coordinates efforts promptly to carry out de-icing and snow removal, ensuring that renewable energy generation continues to reliably support electricity supply.
