Chinese Foreign Ministry (FM) spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday that China-US trade is reciprocal, and cooperation can achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. If pressure is exerted relentlessly against China, China will definitely take resolute countermeasures.

Mao made the remarks during a regular press conference on Wednesday when asked whether China felt that it has had adequate communication with the Trump administration, particularly on trade and other economic issues.

Mao emphasized that we always believe that dialogue and consultation based on equality and respect are essential for addressing each other's mutual concerns.

In response to another question concerning that some analysts have compared China's rhetoric and countermeasures against US President Trump and his tariffs and rhetoric and countermeasures from Canada and Mexico for example, and they said China's responses are actually relatively more restrained, Mao said regarding the US' imposition of additional tariffs on Chinese goods exported to the US, China has repeatedly expressed its opposition and has taken justified and necessary countermeasures to safeguard its own interests.

Mao reiterated that the economic and trade relationship between China and the US is mutual and reciprocal. If both sides choose cooperation, they can achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and if pressure is applied relentlessly, China will definitely take resolute countermeasures.
