A humanitarian organization hosted an iftar dinner for nearly 1,000 orphans in Damascus on Wednesday, aiming to bring joy and hope to young Syrians facing challenging times.

The event, organized by local aid group "Hand" in collaboration with the Damascus governorate, gathered children from orphanages across the capital to share a communal meal during the holy month of Ramadan.

"Today, we're hosting an iftar for orphaned children to bring happiness back to their faces amid these difficult circumstances," said Samer al-Taweel, a representative of the Hand organization.

Volunteers actively participated in serving the meal and interacting with the children throughout the evening.

"I cannot describe the joy we feel spending time with them, seeing happiness in their eyes," said Tasneem Hamsho, a volunteer. "Volunteering is our duty to help our country get back on its feet."

The gathering, held at a large decorated venue in the al-Jalaa Sports Complex in Damascus, featured not just food but also performances and celebrations.

Organizers stressed the importance of continued humanitarian activities to support vulnerable groups, particularly children impacted by years of conflict in Syria.
