China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao on Sunday met with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yoji Muto during the 13th Trilateral Economic and Trade Ministers' Meeting among China, Japan and South Korea held in Seoul, and the two sides exchanged views on China-Japan economic and trade relations.

Wang noted that China-Japan relations are at a critical period of improvement and development, and the two sides have actively implemented the important consensus reached by the two leaders of their countries, and successfully held the sixth China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue, which has enriched the economic connotation of the China-Japan strategic and mutually beneficial relationship.

Wang said that China and Japan's economic interests are integrated with the embedded industrial chain and supply chain. The two sides should continue to strengthen policy communication, creating new growth points of cooperation in the green development, digital economy, third-party markets and other fields.

China expressed concern over Japan's new listing of export-controlled items including semiconductor-related items and the imposition of anti-dumping duties on graphite electrodes imported from China, and hoped that the two sides would make good use of the China-Japan export control dialogue and other mechanisms to maintain a stable and smooth industrial chain and supply chain, and to promote the healthy and stable development of China-Japan economic and trade relations, Wang said.

Muto said that Japan is willing to strengthen exchanges with China at all levels and in all fields, and endeavors to expand synergistic cooperation, so as to further expand the breadth and depth of bilateral economic and trade relations. The Japanese side welcomes China's active participation in the 2025 World Exposition to be held in Osaka, Japan.
