When asked to comment on a fact sheet published on the White House website stating "China now faces tariffs of up to 245 percent on imports to the US as a result of its retaliatory actions" and whether this signifies another US tariff hike on Chinese goods, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday that China has noticed that some of its exports to the US are now subject to cumulative tariffs of up to 245 percent under various pretexts.
This blatantly exposes how the US has instrumentalized and weaponized tariffs with utter irrationality, according to the ministry.
China has repeatedly stated its position on the US' unilateral tariff increases, the spokesperson said, noting "We will ignore these meaningless number games. However, if the US persist in substantially infringing upon China's legitimate rights and interests, China will resolutely take countermeasures and continue to the end."
