On Saturday, the studio of Singaporean actress Eleanor Lee (Li Kaixin) issued a statement on social media, saying that some online platform users had been maliciously spreading false information about Lee, seriously damaging her reputation.

The statement asserted that circulating audio recordings and related content were entirely fabricated and untrue, and that such actions may constitute an infringement of Lee’s legal rights.

Shortly after, Lee reposted the statement accompanied by the comment: “I’m sorry for the controversy caused by matters concerning me and for occupying public attention. I was deeply shocked when I heard the audio in question — those words were not uttered by me.”

Lee noted that she was born in China and returned at the age of 16, spending nearly half of her life in the country.

“I have nothing but love and gratitude for this land, and I will never waver on any issue concerning China’s position,” she added.

Earlier, a former assistant of Lee released an audio recording in which Lee was allegedly heard making disparaging remarks about Chinese audiences, including claims that she “came to China only to make money.” The recording has sparked widespread controversy and trended on social media.

According to the Beijing Daily, although Lee and her studio have denied the allegations and issued legal warnings, the absence of strong evidence to support their claims has left many netizens unconvinced.

Following the backlash, the production team of Go to the Mountains and Seas, in which Lee stars, removed all promotional materials that featured the actress. Her scenes were reportedly cut, and her name was omitted from official announcements related to the series.

Public records show that Lee, born on October 12, 1999, is a Singaporean actress and singer of Chinese descent. She has appeared in several films and television dramas, including The Enchanting Phantom, My Love, Enlighten Me and To the Mountains and Seas.
